Obituary

Ann Marie (Trane) Hoag, of Somerville (80), passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Ostridge) and George Trane.

Beloved wife of Daniel F. Hoag.  Devoted mother of Daniel C. Hoag and his wife Julie of Bedford, NH, Kevin Hoag and his wife Christine of Reading, Kenneth Hoag and his wife Brenda of Merrimac, Suzanne Hoag and her partner Therese Hollingworth of Melrose and Jonathan Hoag and his wife Connie of Tacoma, WA. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren Garrett, Grace, Jessica, Grant, Declan, Ian, William, Maxwell, Calvin, Henry, Lachlan, Callan, Colbie, Keagan and Ruby. Sister of Eileen Hardy of Reading and the late David and Thomas Trane.

Ann created a home filled with joy where laughter was a daily currency. Her greatest joy in life came from embracing her role as a mother. Her family was the center of her world. She poured her love, wisdom and unwavering support into their lives.  She was a sports driver for her kids shuffling everyone to games, a scout leader and an incredible cook. Her kitchen was a place of culinary magic, where she prepared delicious meals that became a treasured part of family gatherings.

Ann's role as a grandmother was a source of immeasurable joy and she relished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren.  Ann cherished her summers in Maine spending time at the beach and she shared that enthusiasm with her family.

Ann was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, and was a dedicated member of St Clement's parish.  After raising her five children, Ann devoted 42 years to the parish that she loved. She served as the secretary for St Clement's Elementary School and then transitioned into the secretary of the Parish Rectory where she served with unwavering devotion.  Her tireless efforts, steadfast faith and boundless love touched the lives of countless individuals and families throughout the years.

In her years of service to St Clement's, Ann played an integral role in initiating adults into the Catholic church by conducting RCIA classes for adults in the community. Ann's dedication to her family and her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity and selflessness served as a shining example of the values she held dear.
