Alice I. Keenan, a lifelong Somerville resident, passed away on August 1, 2023, she was 74. Born in Boston and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Rita (Schrage) and George T. Keenan. Prior to her retirement, Alice worked for many years for the United States Federal Government, most recently with the United States Customs Service and the Department of Homeland Security. She was also an active member of the VFW.

Alice was loved deeply by her family and many friends - both near and far. She was extremely generous to anyone who knew her, not just with gifts or physical items, but with her words, thoughts and time. Alice loved to cook and bake and would always have goodies and treats for visitors. She loved sitting around the kitchen table, sharing a meal and swapping stories. When she was able, she crocheted the most beautiful afghans for those she loved.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Russell Tibbets of Somerville. Dear sister of the late George P. Keenan and his surviving wife Edith of Billerica, and the late Ronald Keenan and his surviving wife Joyce of California. Loving aunt of Jennifer M. Keenan and her husband Melvin F. Clark, Jr. of Medford, George T. Keenan and his wife Jennifer of Chelmsford and the late Kimberly Keenan Jackson. Great-Aunt of Catherine Kennedy Jackson and Madeleine, George and John Keenan.

Relatives and friends invited to attend Calling Hours in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Monday, August 7th from 4:00PM – 7:00PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:30PM.

Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett will be private.
