Life Legacy
Downing, Anna T. (Shaughnessy)--80, A resident of Medford since 1960 died on June 20, 2012.
Anna was the loving mother of Francis Downing of NC, Joseph Downing of Medford and Rita Davey of Woburn. She was the beloved companion of Frederick Greenwald and the sister of Rita Foster of Weymouth, Margaret Roberts of TX and the late Robert Shaughnessy. Anna is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq) in Somerville on Tuesday morning, June 26, 2012, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 25, from 4-7 p.m. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden.
Prior to her retirement in 1994 after a 31-year career, Anna worked as a nurse aide at B.U. Medical Center. She was Chairwoman of the Infamous $20-$20 Club and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Hoyt VFW, Post 299, in Cambridge.
