Life Legacy
Eleanor R. “Ellie” (Alfieri) Haggerty--87, A homemaker who was born and raised in Somerville where she lived for most of her life before moving to Everett 10 years ago died at home after a brief illness on January 23, 2012.
Eleanor was the wife of the late Roger Haggerty and the loving mother of Kenneth Haggerty and his wife Julie of Ossipee, NH, Desiree A. Hayes, Elaine Rettman and her husband Mike all of Methuen, Craig, John, James and Paul Haggerty all of Everett. She was also the sister of Jean DiPerna of Woburn, Doris Domings of Somerville and the late Claire Abbott, James, Louis and Gerald Alfieri. Eleanor was the dear grandmother of Rita, David, Jennifer, Vikki, Mike, Erik, Danny, Katie, and Elizabeth and the great grandmother of Carolanne, Patricia, Sabrina, Steven, Shaun and Lance CPL Brittany Hayes, USMC.
The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Thursday morning, January 26, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Benedict Church in Somerville at 10 o'clock Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 25, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
